Himeji Castle × DANDELION PROJECT

Himeji Castle of Light: DANDELION PROJECT by Ryotaro Muramatsu

November 22 (Sat) – December 11 (Thu), 2025

Ryotaro Muramatsu’s DANDELION PROJECT will be presented at the World Heritage Site Himeji Castle as part of the immersive art event Himeji Castle of Light “DANDELION PROJECT Himeji Castle × NAKED, INC.”.

A Castle of Prayer Illuminated with Art for Peace

Known as the “White Heron Castle,” Himeji Castle is not only a masterpiece of Japanese castle architecture but also a rare cultural heritage site that has survived centuries of conflict, standing as a symbol of peace.

In 2025, marking 80 years since the end of World War II, this historic site will be transformed into a stage for art that conveys a message of peace from Japan to the world. Muramatsu’s DANDELION PROJECT, previously presented at venues such as Nijo Castle and Shinjuku Gyoen, will now envelop Himeji Castle in light and connect prayers for the future.

Blossoming “Flowers of Peace” with Local Children

At the Sannomaru Square of Himeji Castle, visitors will encounter the dandelion-shaped art object DANDELION. When participants blow on it, interactive projection mapping causes “flowers of peace” to bloom and spread across the night sky.

For this special edition, the project will feature collaborative artworks created with elementary school students in Himeji City. The children’s hand-drawn “flowers of peace” will be transformed into projection mapping, filling the grounds of Himeji Castle with their visions of a hopeful future.
