DANDELION” exhibited at Hikone Castle Keep, a National Treasure

Artist Ryotaro Muramatsu’s “DANDELION PROJECT,” a participatory art project that connects with the world, will be exhibited at the stone wall of Hikone Castle and its keep for eight days from November 11 to December 9, 2023.
This is a special exhibition during the nighttime viewing event “Autumn Colors of Hikone Castle: Special Nighttime Viewing of Hikone Castle”.

DANDELION PROJECT” will appear again this year at Hikone Castle, which is over 400 years old.

The “DANDELION PROJECT” is an art project by artist Ryotaro Muramatsu that places dandelion art objects “DANDELION” around the world to make flowers, a symbol of peace, bloom around the world. When visitors hold up their smartphones to “DANDELION”, their wishes for peace will be carried on digital dandelion fluff, which will be connected via the network to the locations around the world where “DANDELION” has been planted, delivering digital flowers in real time.

For the third consecutive year, starting in 2021, “DANDELION” will be exhibited at Hikone Castle, which is over 400 years old and is designated as a National Treasure, delivering wishes for peace to the world from the castle tower, which was completed in 1606. During the same period, “DANDELION” will also be displayed at Hiyoshi Taisha Shrine in the Hieizan Sakamoto area of Shiga Prefecture, connecting Hikone City and Otsu City, where Hieizan Sakamoto is located, and spreading dandelions of peace.
Hikone Castle is currently seeking World Heritage registration. Connected by a network around the world, the fluff carrying each person’s wish for peace will bloom around the world.
