From the Tower of the Sun, the symbolic artwork of the 1970 Osaka Expo, to the Art DANDELION that will lead to the 2025 Osaka/Kansai Expo

DANDELION PROJECT” by artist Ryotaro Muramatsu is an art project in which “DANDELION,” an art object made of dandelions, is installed around the world to make flowers, a symbol of peace, bloom around the world. When visitors hold up their smartphones to “DANDELION”, their wishes for peace will be carried on digital dandelion fluff, which will be connected via the network to the locations around the world where “DANDELION” has been planted, delivering digital flowers in real time. The product has been exhibited in 54 locations around the world, including Tokyo, Shanghai, Paris, and San Francisco. This year, spouses of G7 leaders experienced the product at the “G7 Hiroshima Summit” Partners Program held in May.

The Expo ’70 Commemorative Park, developed on the site of the 1970 Osaka Expo, is symbolized by artist Taro Okamoto’s artwork “Tower of the Sun”. It has been decided that the art object “DANDELION” will be exhibited for the first time on the north side (in front of the black sun) of the 70-meter-high “Tower of the Sun”. On the black sun, which symbolizes the “past,” seeds with prayers for a peaceful “future” will be gathered from all over the world and bloom in a variety of colors.
In addition, in preparation for the Expo, an exposition where people from all over the world will gather, this work will connect with the world beyond various distinctions and divides such as country/religion/race, and spread prayers for peace all over the world.
