DANDELION PROJECT” exhibited at Taiwan Lantern Festival

DANDELION PROJECT” is an art project by Ryotaro Muramatsu / NAKED. Interaction art object “DANDELION” will be exhibited at WEIWUYING Metropolitan Park, Kaohsiung City from February 1, 2022 to February 28, 2022 (18:00-22:00 local time).

Ryotaro Muramatsu’s art of peace, “DANDELION,” will be featured in the main event, the largest of its kind in Taiwan

The Taiwan Lantern Festival, the main event of the Lunar New Year in Taiwan, was established by the Taiwan Tourism Bureau in 1990 and has continued for more than 30 years. The 2022 event will be held during the Chinese New Year, and the location will be even larger. This will be the first time the event will be held in Kaohsiung City, covering an area of nearly 100 ha, and is expected to attract a total of 12 million visitors.

The Ewuyeong Metropolitan Park, where “DANDELION” will be exhibited, is an interactive area that children can enjoy together. In the “DANDELION” exhibit, visitors can blow on a dandelion art object (actually hold up their smart phone) and a flower, a symbol of peace, will bloom, connecting them to the world on a digital dandelion wadding with their name on it.

First overseas! NAKED’s infection prevention art, which has also gained popularity at the World Heritage Site Nijo Castle and Toyokawa Inari, one of the three major Inari shrines in Japan, is also available.

NAKED’s infection prevention artwork “NAKED Tsukubai™” will also be on display. This is a unique artwork by NAKED, which is derived from the traditional Japanese culture of “tsukubai,” or “sacred stone” that is used to disinfect the hands with alcohol. This is the first time that “NAKED Tsukubai™” has been exhibited overseas.

About DANDELION PROJECT

The “DANDELION PROJECT” art project by Ryotaro Muramatsu / NAKED is based on the concept of a “world full of peace” connected beyond all barriers in these days of increasing fragmentation.Since the fall of 2020, the exhibition has been presented at MIYASHITA PARK and Tokyo Tower in Tokyo, Gardens by the Bay in Singapore, and Nijo Castle, a World Heritage Site in Kyoto.

“Dandelion” an art object made of dandelions, is installed around the world. It is a networked art project in which people who experience it deliver their prayers for peace to the world as digital flowers in real time.

Digital dandelion fluff flown by the participants will be connected to various locations through the network, and the art of peace flowers will bloom around the world.(*”DANDELION” is an artwork in which seeds dance by blowing on cotton wool, but as a precautionary measure against infectious diseases, the experience is made to dance when the visitor holds up his or her smartphone.)

The experience can also be joined through the official website (https://breathbless.com/).

About NAKED Tsukubai™.

NAKED Tsukubai™ is an arrangement of the “Hana Tsukubai” used in “FLOWERS BY NAEKD 2019 – Nihonbashi, Tokyo”. The motif is based on the traditional Japanese culture of tsukubai, a stone wash basin used to cleanse the hands before entering a tea ceremony room, and visitors can enjoy the art experience while sterilizing their hands with alcohol.

In “NAKED Tsukubai™,” when you hold out your hand for alcohol sterilization, alcohol is sprayed onto your hand and various flowers bloom and scatter. Visitors can purify their hands with alcohol and safely and comfortably go around.
