DANDELION PROJECT”, an art project that connects with the world at the Karamon Gate, a national treasure of Nishi Honganji Temple

Ryotaro Muramatsu / NAKED’s “DANDELION PROJECT,” a participatory art project that connects with the world, will be exhibited for four days from November 24 to 27, 2022, along with lighting up the Karamon Gate, a national treasure at Honganji Temple (Nishi Honganji, Shimogyo-ku, Kyoto), the head temple of the Honganji sect of Shinshu Jodo.

This work will be exhibited in conjunction with “NAKED AUCTION 0 (zero),” Naked’s first art auction event, which will be held at the Honganji Dendoin. KYOTO”, a next-generation art project presented by Naked in collaboration with Kyoto City, Uji City, and Otsu City, Shiga Prefecture.

DANDELION PROJECT” makes its first appearance at the Karamon Gate, a national treasure of the World Heritage Site Nishi Honganji Temple

The “DANDELION PROJECT” is an art project by artist Ryotaro Muramatsu to install the dandelion art object “DANDELION” around the world and make flowers, a symbol of peace, bloom around the world.

When visitors hold up their smartphones to “DANDELION”, their wishes for peace are carried on digital dandelion fluff, which is then connected via the network to the locations around the world where “DANDELION” has been planted, delivering digital flowers in real time.More than 750,000 people worldwide have already experienced this project.

DANDELION” will be displayed at the Karamon Gate, a national treasure of Nishi Honganji Temple, which will be registered as a World Heritage site, delivering wishes for peace to the world from the Karamon Gate, which was restored in September 2021 for the first time in 40 years and revived to its gorgeous and lustrous form symbolizing the Momoyama Period.

During the same period, “DANDELION” will also be exhibited at the World Heritage Sites of Nijo Castle and Enryakuji Temple on Hieizan, Hikone Castle, Kitano Tenmangu Shrine, and Heian Shrine in Japan, and “Al Murabah” in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

Regardless of country, race, or ideology, the world is connected by a network, and as cotton wool carrying each person’s wish for peace, dandelion flowers will bloom all over the world.

NAKED GARDEN ONE KYOTO, in which Nishi Honganji Temple is participating, is a next-generation art project that Naked, together with Kyoto City, Uji City, Otsu City in Shiga Prefecture, and project support partners, will hold in the real and metaverse, using the entire Kyoto area as a single “garden. Various art exhibitions and events, including the “DANDELION PROJECT,” are being held throughout the Kyoto area until December 25 .

Next Generation Auction of “Tradition and Innovation” Experienced in Real and Metaverse

On November 27, at the Metaverse Hongwanji Dendoin and the real Hongwanji Dendoin the art auction “NAKED AUCTION 0 (zero)” will be held.

A portion of the proceeds from the virtual auction will be donated to the Nishi Honganji Temple for the preservation of its cultural assets. A portion of the proceeds from the sale of NFT art will be donated to the Nishi Honganji Temple for the protection of its cultural assets.
